AM RulZ!

The Rig

The transmitter was taken from the K1JJ design on the AM Window Tech/PW section modified. The Tapco mixer with a separate EQ serves as the speech amp which in turn feed the grid of a 6V6 modulator. The final is a 5V6. A cakepan serves as the chassis ($5 at a discount store); the plexiglass faceplate made from a display shelf purchased as part of a lot for a quarter apiece at a going out of business fixtures sale; and a plug-in coil made with the remains of a smashed 80 tube and a piece of PVC pipe. Who said amateur radio has to be expensive?
